本研究の目的は、植物ウイルスの能力を利用した迅速な過剰発現/発現抑制スクリーニング法を用いて植物の有用形質制御因子を網羅的に探索すると共に、単離した遺伝子の詳細な機能解明を行うことである。このスクリーニングにより、過剰発現又は発現抑制した際に致死となる因子、葉の形態形成を制御している因子、植物体の大きさを制御している因子、葉色を制御している因子、環境ストレス耐性に関与する因子等を網羅的に単離し、一部の遺伝子に関しては詳細な特徴付けを行った。
