質感は空間や時間とともに感覚モダリティをまたぐように存在する。感覚モダリティをまたぐように存在する情報は異なる感覚間をつなぐ重要な手がかりとなるだけでなく、感覚統合の結果としてまた新たな知覚体験を生起させる。本研究はこれまで個別に研究されてきた時間知覚と質感知覚の関係性を多感覚統合の観点から明らかにすることを目的とする。具体的には感覚モダリティをまたがった情報間の時間ずれが、直接同時性や同期性を訊くと識別できない場合であっても、質感知覚として符号化されると識別できる場合について、その符号化のメカニズムや情報処理の階層性を解明することを目指す。今年度は昨年度に引き続きダンス動画を題材として時間ずれと質感知覚の関係性を調べた。その結果、ダンス経験者と未経験者でダンス動画の評価が異なり、ダンス経験者は音楽が映像よりもやや先行するものを好む傾向が見られた。ダンス経験者へのインタビューから、ダンス経験者は普段から「早取り」（踊りが音楽より先行する拍の採り方）にならないように意識しているため（むしろ少し「遅取り」の方がよいとされている）、音楽が映像よりも先行するものを好んだことが伺えた。その他いくつかの新しい刺激についても検討を行った。新型コロナウィルスの影響が続いていたものの、今年度は対面での実験を工夫しながら再開することができた。またオンライン調査も並行して行うことで、新たな示唆が得られた。
