胸腹部大動脈瘤手術の重大な合併症の一つである下半身麻痺は、手術中の大動脈遮断に伴う脊髄虚血が原因と考えられている。しかし、脊髄虚血から脊髄を保護する方法は未だに確立されていない。多くの薬物による脊髄保護効果が動物実験で報告されているが、臨床応用するには、その薬物の安全性など詳細に検討すべき事柄が多い。本研究では、既に市販されているエリスロポエチン製剤とインスリン様成長因子1製剤の併用により、家兎一過性脊髄虚血モデルで保護効果があることを見出した。
