歯周病原細菌P. gingivalis標準株の全ゲノム配列を搭載した新規マイクロアレイとクロマチン免疫沈降法とを組合わせた解析手法を用い、本菌の主要病原因子FimA線毛の生合成を調節する二成分制御系転写因子FimRのゲノム上の結合配列を特定した。更に線毛非形成株W83では、FimRにリン酸基を供与するセンサータンパク質FimSがATP結合領域の一部を欠失した機能不全型であることをも明らかにした。
