本研究は、イギリスの医学教育の現場で、教育学専攻者がスタッフの一員としてどんな仕事を担い、いかなる役割を果たしているか、求められる資質や能力は何かなどを、実地の現場見学とヒアリング、当事者や関係者のインタビューなどから考察・検討したものである。具体的には、(1)ロンドン調査、(2)国際シンポジウム開催、(3)「医療と教育を考える勉強会」での異業種交流、(4)その他の関連する活動を行った。(1)4回のロンドン調査(2007年6月、2008年4月、2009年3月、2009年10月)では、医学教育改革の近年の動向や非医療系教育専門家(non-medical/clinical educationalist)をめぐる情報収集やヒアリング、ロンドン大学教育研究所とロンドン厚生局の協力提携による医療者教育修士課程(Master of Artsin Clinical Education)に関するヒアリングや参与観察、医療系・非医療系の教育専門家へのインタビュー、医療者教育ワークショップの参与観察、国際シンポジウムの打ち合わせを行った(現地調査協力者15名うち日本人2名)。(2)2008年11月13日、にロンドンの教育研究所・厚生局からお二人を招聘し、京都大学で日英国際シンポジウム「イギリス医学教育の動向と新たなチャレンジ-ロンドン大学教育研究所の取り組みから」を実施し、2009年3月に報告書を刊行した。(3)の勉強会では本研究の経過報告を数回行い、平出敦教授(京都大学医学教育推進センター長、本研究の研究助言者)をはじめとするメンバーの協力がシンポジウム開催を円滑にした。(4)他の活動では、日本医学教育学会研究大会での情報収集活動や同教育専門家養成検討委員としての関与、医学教育セミナーなど指導医の研修機会への参加、東京女子医科大学での調査を行った。以上の成果は資料とともに2010年3月、研究成果報告書(全232頁)として刊行した。

(2) On November 13, 2008, Kyoto University published a report entitled "New Trends in Medical Education at the Graduate Institute of Education at Kyoto University" in March 2009. (3)Professor Atsushi Hiraide (Director of Medical Education Promotion Department of Kyoto University and Research Assistant of this study), who participated in the review of this study several times, made a joint effort to promote the development of this study. (4)His activities include information gathering activities at the Research Conference of the Japanese Medical Education Association, participation in research opportunities for medical education, and research at Tokyo Women's Medical University. The above results were published in March 2010, and the research results report (232 pages) was published.
