本研究の目的は、妊娠中及び育児中のニューカマーの健康行動パターン、既存の母子保健事業における保健師等看護職の対応及び反応を把握し、それに基づいた異文化看護の提供指針を確立することである。データ収集は妊婦健診、新生児訪問、乳幼児健診、予防接種などに同行し、参与観察やインタビューにより行った。本年度末までに、14名の妊産婦から観察を行うことの許可を得たが、データを得ることができたのは10名であった。データを1.妊娠期、2.出産、3.産後の3つに大別し、質的に分析を行っている途中である。21年度は、1)妊娠中の精神状態、2)妊娠中の心配事、3)妊娠中の過ごし方、4)妊娠中の身体状態、5)妊娠中の労働、6)夫婦の絆、7)妊娠の人的サポート、8)母子保健サービスの享受、9)妊婦健診に関わる問題、10)医療保険加入に関わる問題、11)婚姻に関わる法的な問題、12)言葉の壁の12カテゴリーに大きく別けた。22年度からは、このデータをさらに継続的に分析していく。この研究結果から、最優先課題としてあげられたのがサポート体制の見直しであった。デカセギ目的で来日した彼女たちは日本で出産や育児を経験するが、不況のなかで就業の困難に遭遇する。さらに、異文化で生活する外国人への理解やサポート体制が整えられていない現実のなかで、相互に助け合うという習慣がない彼女たちは孤独な生活と子育てを行っている。日本人と同等に閉鎖的な育児環境となり、ストレスとなっている。ブラジル人女性が子どもを産み育てる環境が、これほどまでに閉鎖的である事実を我々は切実に受け止める必要がある。
