In the first year we conducted a workshop, "the comparative study on rural society during the war time", in order to share an awareness of the problem and define the theme. In the last year we held international symposium, "the war and social change", which aims to internationalize the discussion. Then we published each of those results as well as each scholar published the outcomes by the means of journal articles, academic conferences, and books as below. Those studies clarified 1) the process of changing substratum societies which are affected by the long-term total war and 2) the Chinese features based on the comparison with Japan. At the present time, we are preparing for publishing collected papers.

在第一年，我们举办了一个讲习班，“战争时期农村社会的比较研究”，以分享对问题的认识并确定主题。去年我们举办了一次国际研讨会，题目是“战争与社会变迁”，目的是使讨论国际化。然后，我们发表了每一个结果，以及每个学者发表的成果，通过期刊文章，学术会议，和书籍如下。这些研究阐明了1）受长期全面战争影响的底层社会的变化过程; 2）在与日本的比较中，中国的特点。目前，我们正在准备出版论文集。
