项目摘要

本研究は、近年の中世日朝交流史研究の成果と近世日朝交流史研究の成果をリンクさせることを目的としている。近世初期、対馬藩が日本・朝鮮両国のはざまで数々の偽装工作-偽日本国王使と日朝外交文書の改竄・偽造-を重ねていたことはよく知られているが、近年の中世日朝交流史研究の成果によって、こうした対馬藩の偽装工作が中世以来の手法を踏襲したものであることが判明してきた。中世日朝交流史と近世初期日朝交流史を連続的にとらえることができる研究段階に達しているのである。このような研究状況を鑑みれば、中近世日朝交流史を偽使・偽書という視点から通時的にとらえるとともに、偽装工作に満ちた対朝鮮外交を展開した宗氏領国・対馬藩の外交担当者の実態を解明することが急務である。そこで、今年度は「偽日本国王使・偽造国書の通時的把握」、および「宗氏領国・対馬藩の外交担当者」という2つの課題を設定し、研究を遂行した。拙稿「対馬宗氏の対朝鮮外交戦術」では、室町政権期から豊臣・徳川政権期にかけての偽使・偽書の問題を通時的に把握することで、中央政権の変遷にかかわりなく、宗氏領国・対馬藩が主体的な対朝鮮外交を維持していたことを明確に提示することができた。拙稿「十六世紀末期対馬宗氏領国における柳川氏の台頭」では、宗氏領国・対馬藩の対朝鮮外交にきわめて重要な役割をはたした柳川氏について再検討した。近世編纂物に依拠した既往説を批判し、同時代史料の収集・分析にもとづいて、柳川氏が16世紀末期の宗氏領国において政治・外交上の地位を確立していく過程を解明した。
