The Regulation of Executive Compensation in the Context of Corporate Governance

This research project studies on the regulation of executive compensation in the context of corporate governance. In order to evaluate the importance of regulating executive compensation, it investigates historical development of the regulations of executive compensation both in Japan and in the U.S. This research also investigates the regulations of executive compensation introduced after the financial crisis that began in 2007. Those regulations include what were agreed or introduced by the G20 summit, or international organizations, such as FSB (Financial Stability Board) , the OECD and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, to redress incentives of those who managed significant financial institutions, and the rules introduced in the U.S. by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
