In this study, fieldwork has been conducted on Huu-ay-aht, an endangered and understudied Nuu-chah-nulth language, in the province of British Columbia, Canada, over a total period of three months, on the purpose of documenting, not only isolated grammatical patterns, but also communicative patterns together with surrounding cultural and social contexts. Based on the documentation, a lexical and textual database/corpus has been constructed for the academic usage as well as for the preservation of one of the great intellectual properties of human kind in endangerment.

在这项研究中，在总共三个月的时间里，对加拿大不列颠哥伦比亚省一种濒临灭绝且研究不足的Nuu-chah-nulth语言Huu-ay-aht进行了实地调查，目的不仅是记录孤立的语法模式，而且记录交流模式以及周围的文化和社会背景。在文献资料的基础上，建立了一个词典和文本数据库/语料库，以供学术使用，并保护人类最伟大的知识产权之一。
