Characterization of malignant lymphoma from viewpoint of cancer stem cells

为了鉴定恶性淋巴瘤中的癌症干细胞，有必要将分选为癌症干细胞候选者的细胞注射到NOD/SCID小鼠中。在霍奇金淋巴瘤细胞系中，部分单核小（S）细胞的细胞内活性氧浓度处于低水平。在甲基纤维素中培养或接种NOD/SCID小鼠后，S细胞的集落殖民地数和肿瘤体积均大于多核大细胞，提示小细胞在霍奇金淋巴瘤的发生中起重要作用。

To identify cancer stem cells in malignant lymphoma, it is necessary that cells sorted as a candidate of cancer stem cells were injected into NOD/SCID mice. In Hodgkin lymphoma cell lines, concentration of intracellular reactive oxygen species was at a low level in a portion of single-nucleated small sized (S) cells. When cultured in methylcellulose or inoculated into NOD/SCID mice, the colony number and tumor size were larger in S than in multinucleated large-sized cells.These findings suggest that small-sized cells might play an important role in tumorigenesis of Hodgkin lymphoma.
