项目摘要

共感は、ヒトの社会的相互作用、利他行動、道徳性などに不可欠なものであるため、共感の進化基盤については生物学だけでなく、哲学、人類学、社会心理学などにおいても注目を集めている。本研究では、共感の進化基盤について、共感覚醒行動を種間比較することにより調査・検討することを目的とした。具体的には、1)チンパンジーにおける共感感情に関連した複合的な相互作用、2)イヌにおける共感の表出と考えられる伝染性あくび、3)共感関連行動(向社会行動)を支えるメカニズムとしてのオキシトシンの役割の3点についての調査・分析を行った。1)については、米国エモリー大で飼育される二つのチンパンジー集団における闘争後の自発的相互作用に関する膨大なデータを分析し、慰め行動と宥め行動の特性を、一般化線形混合モデルを用いて解析した。2)については、伝染性あくびが共感と関係するかを調査するため、飼い主宅で実験を行った。被験体の前でヒトのモデル(実験者と飼い主)が、「あくび」もしくは「あくびではない開口表出(統制条件)」を示し、被験体にあくびがどの程度見られるかを測定した。また、イヌの祖先種であるオオカミにおいてあくびの伝染が生じるか、生じるとしたらどのような文脈で、またどのような個体間関係で見られるかを、多摩動物公園の飼育個体群で観察した。3)については、イヌを被験体とした実験を日本盲導犬協会横浜センターで実施した。被験体は、自分だけが報酬を得る「利己的」条件か、自分とパートナーが共に報酬を得る「向社会」条件かを選択する状況におかれ、オキシトシン投与が反応に及ぼす効果を測定した。オキシトシンの投与が上の向社会的選択を上昇させるかどうか、また同種他個体や人に対する親和的反応が上昇するかを現在分析中である。
