项目摘要

本研究は、現代美術の「オルタナティヴ」な活動がどのように成立しているのかを、制作・展示の現場に注目して明らかにすることで、従来の制度論的な芸術研究では取り上げられてこなかった芸術作品の成立のダイナミズムを論じた。本年度前半は、前年度から引き続きポーランドの南部にある街ビトムの現代美術センターにおいて、作品制作の場でどのように人とモノが関係性をむすび作品が作品として成立していくのかに着目し、作品が作品として鑑賞者の前に登場するまでの過程、作品が作品としてどのような状態を生み出しているかを調査した。調査を行うなかから、現代美術の現場におけるキュレーターの存在及びキュレーターとアーティストの関係の重要性が明らかになってきた。つまりキュレーターが「つくる」展覧会自体が作品のようにとらえられる状況が指摘されるようになり、本来アーティストに認められていた「創造性」がキュレーターにも及ぶようになっている。それは、アクター・ネットワーク・セオリーにもとづき作品や展覧会の制作過程を追った先行研究においては、十分に指摘されてこなかった点である。美術批評や美術史のなかでは現代美術の現場におけるキュレーターの重要性がしばしば指摘されるが、実際の現場においていかにアーティストとキュレーターのあいだの境界線が曖昧化されているのかを、彼らの実践の民族誌的な調査から明らかにするような研究はあらわれていない。そこで、とくにキュレーターとアーティストのあいだで揺れる「創造性」の言説と両者の関係性を考察し『文化人類学』に投稿した。本年度後半は、それまでの調査に基づいて、現代美術に関わるアーティストと民族誌家の実践との関係をいかに語ることが出来るのかを考察し、国際シンポジウムのワークショップで発表を行った。
