项目摘要

研究の大きな目的は、人的資本の地理的な分布の決定メカニズムを解明し、それが産業の立地、究極的には経済成長や経済格差に対して持つ含意を導き出すことである。本年度は2つの研究プロジェクトを進めた。第一のプロジェクトでは、多様な都市が人口移動や産業の立地・退出などを通じて成長、発展、衰退する動学を分析できる経済成長モデルを開発し、(i)都市の人口と順位の関係を表す都市規模分布と(ii)都市人口と都市の平均事業所規模の正の相関関係を同時に説明することを試みた。本論文のアプローチは動学的一般均衡モデルを構築し、それを米国経済に合うようにcalibrateし、counterfactual simulationによって産業の特性がこれらの現象に与える影響を検証するものである。先行研究ではこのような統一的な分析は無く、更に本プロジェクトでは数量的な実証分析を行うことから、都市経済学、産業組織論、マクロ経済学等に重要な含意を持つと考えられる。これまでワークショップで2回、学会で1回の研究発表を行った。また、2012年6月に日本経済学会で報告をする予定である。合わせて、これまでいただいたコメントを基に現在モデルを再構築している。第二のプロジェクトでは、skill-biased technical changeやcapital-skill complementarityといったマクロ経済学で議論される学歴間賃金格差をNew Economic Geographyの分析に取り入れ、現実に観測される都市規模分布や能力別の労働者の分布、都市人口と学歴間賃金格差の関係といった現象が自己組織化されることで生じる可能性を示している。モデルの構築は既に完了し、均衡の解析的な特徴づけもほぼ完了している。しかしながらモデルが複雑であるため、解析的に得られる知見は限られている。そこで、今後は数値計算を用いた解析を行う予定である。

The purpose of this study is to clarify the geographical distribution of human capital, and to guide the implications of the geographical distribution of human capital for the development of industries. This year's research is progressing. The first is to analyze the dynamics of urban population movement, industry growth, development and decline,(i) the relationship between urban population and order, and (ii) the positive relationship between urban population and urban average business size. In this paper, the general equilibrium model of industrial dynamics is constructed, calibrated and counterfactual simulation is used to analyze the characteristics of industrial dynamics. The first research is to analyze the unified theory of urban economics, industrial organization theory, and urban economics. The research and development of this project is conducted in 2 chapters and 1 chapter respectively.
