Study on the spatial structures and their transformation of Chinese capitalcities

本研究在前人研究的基础上，首先对中国的城市传统进行了探讨，并通过编写《大原市：中国首都城市的观念、空间形态与转型》一书，得出研究策略的范围。我讨论了《周礼》中所写的中国城市的理想模式，阐明了规划师和建筑师在城市形态设计中对文本的解读。在实地调研的基础上，进一步揭示了开封、南宁、杭州的转型过程。第三，将研究领域扩展到中国以南，对张舟、福州、泉州三个港口城市进行了实地考察。商铺和歧楼的起源和分布的确定是本次研究的重要成果。这一研究成果对中国城市史研究领域的发展做出了贡献，也为亚洲城市研究奠定了基础。

The study firstly discussed the urban traditions in China based on the previous study and is getting the scope of the research strategy by preparing the book "Da Yuan City: The Idea,Spatial Formation andTransformation of Chinese Capital Cities". I have discussed theidealmodel ofChinese City written in "ZhouLi"(Classical Books) and clarified how the planners and architects interpreted the text in designing the city form. Baed on the fierld surveys, study revealed the transformation process of Kaifeng, Nanging and Hangzhou, secondarily. Thirdly, the reseacher extended the field to the South of China and carried out the field study on three port cities, Zhang zhou, Fuzhou and Quanzhou. The confirmationofthe origin andthe distribution of shop house and Qilou is the important outcome of the study. The results of the study contributes the development in the field of urban history of China and strengthen the base of urban studies of Asian cities.
