The purpose of this study is to verify what the measures to the relief for Minamata disease victims and survivors and the regional development policy in the area bring to the Minamata disease patients in recent years, and to clarify the issues and challenges of/for the Minamata disease incidents in light of the 50-year history. Therefore, it has fundamental importance to clarify and renew the knowledge on what is Minamata disease damage.For this purpose, we did studied the documents materials, the research results, the statistical data in the past. The research and survey was conducted with the stakeholders such as the victims and the various local actors involved in the Minamata disease in close contact. By this way, we were able to learn the lessons from negative experiences of Minamata disease and disseminate it to the world by the international forum on environmental pollution held in the September 2013.

本研究的目的是验证近年来该地区的水患和幸存者救济措施以及区域发展政策给水患患者带来了什么，并结合50年的历史阐明水患事件的问题和挑战。因此，澄清和更新对水俣病危害的认识具有十分重要的意义。研究和调查是与利益攸关方，如受害者和与水患密切接触的各种地方行为者进行的。通过这种方式，我们能够从水患的负面经验中吸取教训，并通过2013年9月举行的环境污染国际论坛向世界传播。
