本年度の主な研究内容は,南インドにおける新始生代～古原生代の縫合帯の地質野外調査と岩石試料採取であり,2011年8月10日～9月11日にかけて行った.地質図の作成,地質構造の調査,岩石試料の採取などを行った.高圧グラニュライト,オフィオライト質マフィック～超マフィック岩コンプレックス,アノーソサイト,TTG片麻岩など数タイプの岩石試料を採取した.特に,5kmにわたるほぼ連続した露頭に先カンブリア時代の島弧の岩石が露出する地域で,詳細な地質調査を行い,上部サブダクション帯コンプレックスを新しく確認した.また,本地域に分布する縞状鉄鉱層を調査した.本野外研究は,海洋リソスフェアの沈み込みと大陸衝突前の海洋閉鎖を示す海洋プレート層序の確認に至った.代表的な岩石試料について薄片を作り,岩石記載および電子線マイクロ分析を行い,本地域が高温～超高温で高圧型の変成作用を被っていることを推定した.今回の野外研究および実験分析研究により,本地域におけるサブダクション-付加-衝突のテクトニクスが確かめられた.
