"Local Color" and "National Identity" in Asian Modern Art

本项目采访了东南亚著名的艺术史学家，如Jim Supangkat和T.K.Sabapathy等，在他们的帮助下，收集了宝贵的相关资料。就第一手资料而言，除了日据时期的日、英、中文报纸外，也调查了地方杂志等，搜集了与艺术有关的资料，了解了艺术活动的实际情况--从政府主办的艺术展览开始，此外，本研究还深化了对日本军国主义统治下的东南亚国家的本土色彩与后独立时代国家认同之间关系的研究。

This project interviewed leading Southeast Asian art historians, such as Jim Supangkat and T.K.Sabapathy, etc.With their assistance, valuable relevant materials were collected. As far as primary sources are concerned, in addition to the Japanese, English, and Chinese newspapers published under Japanese occupation, local magazines etc. were also surveyed in order to collect copies of art related materials.These materials lead to understanding of the actual conditions of the artistic activities-beginning with the government sponsored art exhibitions, in the Southeast Asian countries under Japanese military rule that was almost unknown until now.Moreover,theproject deepened the study of the relationshipthe between the local color expected in the above situation and the national identity of post-independent era.
