The aim of this study was to assess psychosocial profiles of children with short stature. Children with short stature experienced a number of exposures to short stature-related stressors. However, there was no evidence of impaired psychosocial status. Surprisingly, children with the disease did not perceive short stature-related experience as a threat. Furthermore, self-efficacy was quite high. When parents were anxious about therapy, their children had lower self-concept. It is vital in the future to systematically evaluate the entire psychological adaptation process that shapes the psychosocial status of children with short stature, and that health professionals perform evaluations that allow them to promote healthy psychosocial adaptation.

本研究的目的是评估矮小儿童的社会心理特征。身材矮小的儿童经历了许多与身材矮小相关的压力源。然而，没有证据表明心理社会状况受损。令人惊讶的是，患有这种疾病的儿童并不认为身高矮小是一种威胁。自我效能感也相当高。当父母对治疗感到焦虑时，他们的孩子有较低的自我概念。今后至关重要的是，系统地评估影响矮小儿童心理社会状况的整个心理适应过程，并由卫生专业人员进行评估，使他们能够促进健康的心理社会适应。
