当該年度において研究者藤井は、①日本中世、南北朝室町期大内氏について研究した博士学位請求論文『室町期大名権力の研究―周防国大名大内氏を取例として―』の出版にこぎつけた。書名は『室町期大名権力論』、出版社は同成社、刊行年次は平成25年12月、総ページ数は367ページである。本書は中世の地域権力である大内氏をとりあげた本としては、60～80年代の論文の論文集である松岡久人氏の『大内氏の研究』(2011年、清文堂)につぐ専門書である。また、南北朝・室町期大内氏分国に特化した研究書としては初のものである。同書では、大内氏の支配国、すなわち大内氏分国の歴史を当主毎(6代)に区分けし、各代において、I先行研究の整理、II政治史の整理、III当主と被官(家臣)の代表的発給文書表の紹介と分析、IV被官(家臣)集団の紹介と分析、IV内政の実情についての特論を展開した。結果、大内氏の研究のみならず、未だ未解明な部分の多い、南北朝・室町期における地域権力、いわゆる大名権力の形成過程とはどのようなものかという、中世史研究に課せられた屈指の重要問題の解明に貢献したと考える。②また、本年度においては、①の研究成果を引き継いで行なった新研究、戦国期大内氏分国の研究にも着手した。同研究については基礎的データの収集と分析を行う一方で、既に研究の一部成果の発表の段取りもつけた。具体的にいえば、戎光祥出版という出版社より単著、『大内義興』(大内義興は戦国期大内氏の当主、同書は一般向けの準専門書)を刊行することとなった。同書の執筆は既に終了しており、現在、同書は最終的な校正の段階に入っている。同書の刊行は、特別研究員の期間終了後ではあるが、平成26年5月である。
