26年度研究ではまず、前年度に引き続き研究遂行に必要な史料の収集とその分析を行った。19世紀末以降のロシアのラスキン受容については現地国立図書館で調査を行い、当時の芸術系雑誌を網羅的に閲覧、ラスキン言及事例を悉皆的に収集した。また、国内で可能な一次・二次文献探索で閲覧不可能であった史料については、フランスおよびドイツの現地調査を行い、1900年前後の同地域における一次史料を探索した。また、ドイツでは日本で入手困難なヘルマン・ムテジウス『様式建築と建設芸術』第二版および、アンリ・ヴァン・ド・ヴェルド研究の二次文献を網羅的に収集した。この調査によってはまず、従来において近代建築史上等閑視されていた、１９世紀末から２０世紀初頭ロシアの新芸術思潮を示す史料を十分数渉猟することができた。当時サンクトペテルブルクを中心とした芸術論壇ではイギリスのトレンド、特にオスカー・ワイルドの耽美主義の影響が色濃くあり、それと平行して１８９０年代にラスキンの美学も注目されるようになる。そのなかでセルゲイ・ディアギレフは自身の『芸術世界』誌に「複雑な問題」を寄稿、ラスキンを援用しながら、リアリズムと幻視の中間に位置する新たな「美」を提唱した。この時期の受容は１９００年のラスキン死後の同氏受容の背景であったが、他国の２０世紀ラスキン受容がアーツ・アンド・クラフツ（工芸）運動推進のモーメントを多分に含んでいたのにたいし、ロシアの場合はこの動因には力がなく、２０世紀初頭にいくつか創刊された工芸系雑誌はすべて短命に終わっている。建築論壇でラスキンに言及のある場合はロシアでは極端に少ないが、１９世紀末にはコンスタンチン・アピシュコフ『近代建築の新機軸』がオーストリア等の新建築の潮流をラスキンに遡り説き起こしている。
