本研究の中心目的は世阿弥の記す音楽哲学「祝言の声・亡憶の声」が、現在のツヨ吟・ヨワ吟という歌唱様式へどう繋がるかを、楽譜をもとに明らかにするものである。本年度は、室町末期を対象とし、謡伝書という解説書の記事を、先行芸能の影響をもと読み解くことにおもに従事した。従来、室町期の謡には音階が一つしかなく、吟のような歌唱様式の違いはないとされてきた。本研究では、従来の研究とは異なるアプローチ方法を模索し、本年度は、先行芸能である早歌や仏教声楽の講式などの中世芸能で支配的であった作曲法である音域概念「重」によって、吟を考察することを集中的に行った。講式の法要の実地調査にもとづき音楽分析を行うとともに、その結果の謡への適用を試みた。とくに、天正11年の奥書をもつ『塵芥抄』に示された「呂律之吟」の記事が「重」の概念によってに読解可能であることを示した。また“Late Muromachi- Period Noh Scores Featuring Idiosyncratic Notational systems”のタイトルにより研究発表を行った。室町末期の楽譜の客観性を支えていたものは何かについて論じた。室町期の楽譜は、おそらく書き手が記憶している謡を口ずさみながら自由に記された、いわば身体性の発露とも言える楽譜であるが故に恣意的な傾向が強い。しかし逆に玄人が体に染みつくほどに習得した地拍子が、「振リ」という復拍の音符記号によって、意図せず表現されることとなったため、リズム面からの客観性を強く表現した楽譜となっていると結論した。以上により、世阿弥のいう歌詞に基づく謡い方の違いである二種の「声」が、実際の歌唱様式として存在したという当初の仮説は、室町末期においてほぼ証明可能であろうことが予測できる段階まできた。今後、この結果を実際の楽譜に当てはめて考察していく予定である。
