An analysis of large scale DNS traffic

We analyzed large scale DNS queries measured at JP ccTLD servers (JP DNS servers) in order to quantify interactions between DNS authoritative server and cache resolvers. The main results are as follows: (1) A macroscopic analysis of efficiency of DNS server selection algorithms in cache resolvers. (2) A development of a technique for counting DNSSEC validators. (3) A development of a technique for identifying DNS software at end-host. (4) An analysis of macroscopic effect of DNSSEC validation failure on cache resolver performance.
