Support staff and family members' effective support to self-determination of people with intellectual disability

这项研究的目的是澄清支助工作人员和家庭成员如何与智障人士的自决有关，以及他们以何种方式处理自决是适当的。为了达到这一目的，在美国进行了文献综述、对支持人员和家人的采访、观察和采访。作为这项研究的结果，基于优势的支持(例如希望、梦想、可用的资源等等)，承认智障人士是“能够自主的人”，坚持“实现自己的愿望去做一些事情”，以及其他有效地缓解支持和家庭成员家长式作风造成的问题，以及适当地支持智障人士。

The purpose of this research is to clarify how support staff and family members relate to self-determination of people with intellectual disability and what way of their dealing with the self-determination is appropriate. To attain this purpose, literature reviews, interviews with support staff and family members, observations and interviews in the U.S. are carried out. As the result of this research, support based on strengths(ex. hopes, dreams, available resources and so on), recognition that people with intellectual disability are "those who can be self-determined," sticking to "fulfilling their wishes to do something," and others are effective in alleviating problems which support and family members' paternalism causes as well as appropriate in supporting people with intellectual disability.
