本研究の目的は、生物多様性保全の分野おいて先進的と言われているコスタリカ共和国の政策を、制度の構造と地域社会の実践の両面から明らかにすることである。平成27年度は、これまでの成果を博士論文としてまとめ上げることを目標としていた。そこで、第1四半期は、博士論文の要約となる文章を作成し、当該資料を基に日本沿岸域学会における学会発表を行った。当該発表は、同学会の優秀講演賞を受賞するなど、一定の評価を受けた。第2四半期は、学会発表得られたコメントを基に、博士論文の課題を整理した。その上で、不足の資料を補完するために、コスタリカへ補足調査（3週間）を実施した。調査期間中は、コスタリカ共和国立法議会図書館や環境エネルギー省本庁、環境訴訟を担当する弁護士の事務所などを訪問し、自然保護区に関わる法律文書および議会の記録などの一次資料を入手した。加えて、事例調査地の村落に2週間ほど滞在し、関係住民への追加のインタビュー調査を実施した。本調査の成果は、日本国際観光学会、日本環境学会、環境教育学会において発表した。第3四半期は、追加調査の結果を基に論文の構成を微調整した上で、博士論文の審査委員からピア・レビューを受けた。ここで得られたコメントを基に、博士論文の執筆を進めた。また、その一方で、コスタリカのウミガメ保全の動向をまとめた論文などを発表した。第4四半期は、博士論文を完成させ提出した。1月下旬には博士論文の本審査および一般に公開される公聴会を実施した。論文は審査を通過し、学位（学術博士）を取得するに至った。なお、博士論文は、横浜国立大学のweb上で一般公開される予定である。また、昨年度に発表した博士論文の要約にあたる原著論文は、平成27年日本沿岸域学会・論文賞を受賞し、学会内でも一定の評価を受けている。
