2017年度（平成29年度）の研究実施状況は，学術論文等（4本）と学会等（3本）の成果を挙げたことである．採用３年目は受入研究機関の研究環境を十分に活用し，これまでの調査・研究を刊行することに重点を置いて活動を行なった．以下，それぞれの研究状況を報告する．なお，【1】，【2】等の表記は，後述の業績リスト番号に対応している．【１】「自営業層における職業による所得構造の趨勢─専門職の内部における格差」は社会階層と社会移動全国調査の1975年から2005年までのデータを用いて，自営業層の所得構造の趨勢を明らかにすることを試みた．とりわけ，自営業層の専門職の内部において所得格差が拡大していることを示した．【２】「専門職化する日本の自営業─1955年～2015年SSM調査を用いた計量分析」は社会階層と社会移動の全国調査（SSM調査）の1955年から2015年までのデータを用いて，自営業と専門職の関連の強度が1955年から2015年にかけて常時雇用と比べると次第に強まったのか、個人の職業移動において専門的・技術的職業の自営業（自営専門職）への参入が他の職種の自営業への参入に比べて近年になるほど生じやすくなっているのかを検討した．分析の結果、自営業と専門職の結びつきは職業構造の変動の影響を考慮したとしても、1955年から2015年にかけて強まっていることおよび自営業専門職への参入は近年になるほど生じやすい傾向を明らかにした．【３】「自営専門職の職業経歴─系列分析による探索的な記述の試み」は，2005年と2015年社会階層と社会移動全国調査データを用いて，専門的・技術的職業を経験する自営業と常時雇用を対象として，職業経歴がどのようになっているのかについての記述的な分析を行ったものである．分析の結果，営専門職の職業経歴は五つの異なる職歴パターン（多様型・非正規経験型・ホワイト経験型・専門経験型・専門一貫型）に大別できることがわかった．
