项目摘要

本年度は昨年度の研究の進展を承け、帝政末期トリエステにあってドイツ語を主要教授語とするトリエステ国立ギムナジウムにおける生徒の多言語性／多民族性と、ドイツ語・イタリア語・スロヴェニア語の言語教育に焦点を当てて研究を進めた。19世紀末から20世紀後半にかけて、ドイツ系住民はハプスブルク君主国全体では多数派だった一方、トリエステでは人口の6%に過ぎず(イタリア系60-70％、スロヴェニア系20-30％)、その点で独自の性格を持つこのギムナジウムの考察は、多言語社会トリエステの研究に新たな視覚をもたらすものである。生徒の背景、言語教育内容、そして生徒の言語科目選択の内実・変遷を考慮すると、第一回から第四回全国国勢調査（1880年-1910年）にかけてのトリエステ国立ギムナジウムではドイツ語優位、ドイツ語母語話者優位こそ揺らがなかったものの、イタリア語とスロヴェニア語についても充実した教育が提供され、多種多様な背景を持つ生徒たちの多くが複言語状態にあったことが浮かび上がってきた。また同校が担っていたトリエステにおけるスロヴェニア系住民の子弟の受け皿としての側面は特筆すべきものである。「コスモポリタン的都市トリエステ」の理想的な具現ではなくとも、それはハプスブルク君主国の国家基本法第19条の理念に適うものとして評価できるものであった。なお学校関係史料・新聞史料入手のため、昨年に引き続き、トリエステのトリエステ国立文書館、トリエステ市立オルティス図書館、トリエステ市立歴史・芸術博物館図書館で史料調査を行い、多数の史料を入手できた。本年度は研究の一部が論文「20世紀初頭トリエステにおける言語的多元性と国立ギムナジウム」（『神戸大学史学年報』第31号、1-26頁、2016年）で掲載された。またここまでの研究成果を総合し、29年度中に学位論文として公表する。

The results of this research are summarized and presented in the 29th Annual Academic Dissertation.
