项目摘要

本研究の目的は2015年4月25日にネパールで発生した大地震を文化人類学的に探求することであった。最終年度である本年度は、これまでの調査により得られた情報の理論化とアウトプットを中心に研究を行った。フィールド調査としては、補足調査として、地震から3周年にあたる2018年4月25日の前後で渡航し、記念行事などについて調査すると共に、論文の執筆中に生じた不明点の調査を行った。それにより、以下の2点が明らかになった。１. 多中心的ネットワークの形成要因：震災後に被災者による災害対応が起こった際に、震災以前から存在していたネットワークが活用されていた点を明らかにした。とくに、土地に根差した関係や、親族関係のほかに、近代化の中で新たに婦人会や学校、防災組織などのつながりが形成されていたことにより、被災者による活動がより広がりを持つことが可能になっていたことがわかった。２. 震災廃棄物（瓦礫）の処理と祭りの関連性：廃棄物処理の仕組みが震災を契機として再構築されるのではないかという本研究の当初の仮説は、復興の遅れの中で、充分な検証が行えなかった。ただし、震災を契機として発生した瓦礫について研究することにより、ネットワークが形成され、活動が起こるための重要な契機の一つに祭りや儀礼があるということが明らかになった。この2つの結果から、震災に対応する多中心的ネットワークは、震災以前からの人々のつながりに基づきつつ、必ずしも一点に集約されるわけではなく、その時々で異なるつながりが重層的に用いられていたこと、一方で具体的な活動が行われる際には、その対象となる場所や活動をするべき人々が強く意識され、集約力が発揮されていたことが明らかになった。本年度は、以上の研究成果を踏まえ、研究結果のアウトプットを行った。とくに、全体の調査・研究の集大成として博士論文を執筆し、2019年3月に博士号を取得した。
