今年度は昨年度に性能を評価した測定系（すなわち28 x 28 x 3.5 mmのシンチレータの４側面に32個のMPPCを貼り付け、上下面には波長変換ファイバーを並べた測定器）を２つ使用した小型測定器を２つ製作し、Na22密封線源を間に挟んで測定する予定であった(すなわち新たにシンチレータを３つ追加購入する予定であった)。しかし使用していたシンチレータLa-GPSの製造が休止されてしまい、新規入手が不可能となってしまった。La-GPSシンチレータは日本のベンチャー企業が独自開発した結晶で、製造している企業は１社のみである。La-GPSは高発光量・MPPCと相性の良い発光波長・短蛍光寿命・比較的安価という本研究に適した特徴を持っており、昨年度までの研究開発が順調だったのもこのシンチレータを使用していたかという側面は大きかった。急遽La-GPS と似た特性を持つLYSOシンチレータ(Y2SiO5とLu2SiO5の混晶組成の単結晶)を購入し改めて適正を検討。光電子増倍管を用いた光量比較測定ではLYSOシンチレータは光量がLa-GPSの69.8%。一方で時間特性はLYSOの方が優れており、発光時間は45%に圧縮されることがわかった。LYSO結晶を用いて測定器を作り直し、改めて性能評価実験を行った。ファイバーからの光の測定にはこれまで使用していたPSPMT(位置弁別型光電子増倍管)ではなく、MPPCを使用した。MPPCの接続には、専用のソケットを開発した。実験の結果、ファイバーでは511keVガンマ線１本あたり平均17.4 p.eの光量が得られ、位置分解能は標準偏差で1.3mmを達成した。
