项目摘要

2017年度は有権者の争点認知と行動の関係に関する研究を行ってきた。具体的には有権者の認知レベルにおける争点空間の歪みが、自分の利得を最大化する「合理的投票」から逸脱させることを実験と構造推定を用いて分析を行った。これは、長らく合理的選択政治学において論争の対象であった「近接性モデル vs. 方向性モデル」の論争に対して一定の知見を提供する。つまり、有権者の属性や、有権者を取り巻く政治的環境が争点空間を歪ませることになり、歪みが大きいほど、有権者は方向性モデルが予測しているような投票決定を行い、歪みがない有権者ほど、近接性モデルに従った行動を行うことが明らかになった。これらの研究成果は受給者の博士学位論文、「争点空間の歪みと有権者の選択：伸縮近接性モデルによる争点投票理論の統合」としてまとめられた。また、有権者の認知レベルにおける争点空間を「伸縮争点空間 (Elastic Issue Space)」と名付け、これらを紹介する論文は国際ジャーナルへ投稿予定である。また、有権者の属性（イデオロギーの強度）が歪みの程度に与える影響に関しては『エストレーラ』に掲載されている。今後の研究課題としては、研究の外敵妥当性を確保するために実際の政策 (選挙公約)を使うことと、争点空間の歪みが政党の戦略に与える影響を明らかにすることである。実際の選挙公約を数値化するためには、機械によるコーディングが効率的であると考えられる。受給者は2017年度の選挙学会にて機械学習による分類のパフォーマンスを最大化するデータ構造について報告を行った。また、政党の戦略に関してはマルチ・エージェント・シミュレーションを用いる予定であるが、政治学におけるシミュレーションの有効性については2017年度の選挙学会にて研究成果を発表した。
