项目摘要

本研究は，選挙制度が有権者の投票行動および政治家の選挙戦略に与える影響を理論的，実証的に解明することを目的とするものである。特に，日本政治を特徴づけてきた中選挙区制と世界的に広く利用されている比例代表制を統一的な理論のもとで比較し，その共通性と差異を明らかにすることを目的としている。本年度は，昨年度に引き続き，選挙制度が有権者の投票行動に与える影響について，理論的な研究と実証的な研究を行った。これらの研究成果の一部を査読付英文学術誌に投稿し，Revise and Resubmitの査読結果を受けて再投稿を行なった。ここでは，中選挙区制と比例代表制に共通して見られる投票行動を理論化し，その含意を実証的に検証している。特に，これまで小選挙区制において研究が進められてきた有権者の戦略的な投票行動について，その研究デザインの問題点を指摘し，その課題を克服する研究デザインとして中選挙区制と比例代表制における投票行動の研究を位置付けている。また，オンラインサーベイ実験を行い，本研究の含意を異なる角度から検証している。さらに，実証分析を行うための統計学的な方法論の開発を行い，その成果を査読付学術誌に投稿している。昨年度に引き続き，主に観察データから因果効果を推定するための方法を整理し，その問題点を改善する新たな方法を提案している。また，近年の機械学習の発展をうけて，データの一部をマニュアルコーディングと教師付き学習を利用してコーディングする社会科学的研究において，統計的推論をする方法を開発している。従来の方法では推定量に不偏性や一致性がなく不確実性の評価も不適切となることを指摘し，この研究では一致性を持ち不確実を適切に評価できる方法を提案している。
