今年度は以下の3点について、調査研究を行い、その成果をまとめた。第一に、昨年度から引き続き1920-30年代の東京市における低所得者向け出産取扱医療施設の状況を調査し、「1920-30年代の東京市における低所得層の出産と医療施設」として論文にまとめ、『保健医療社会学論集』に投稿し、採録が決定した。ここでは、行政の社会調査や行政の事業報告書などを用いながら、①当時の東京市内には低所得者の利用できる施設がどれほど、どのように分布していたのか、②低所得層のなかでも生活がより厳しい人々に施設の利用をためらわせる要因は何だったのか、という問題を検討した。第二に、1920-40年代の出産介助医療施設で提供される医療の状況について、妊産婦ではなく新生児の側に目を向け、未熟児医療の動向に着目し、産婦人科、小児科雑誌、書籍などの分析を通して検討した。この成果を'Child delivery in medical institutions and lifesaving intervention for premature infants before and during World War 2 in Japan,'としてまとめ、Studium Historiae Medicaeに投稿し、掲載された。第三に、当時の出産取扱医療施設の環境、とくに妊産婦がどのような取扱を受けていたのか、医療施設の産婆の勤務記録をもとにした書籍や各種統計資料から、Leavitt (1986) Brought to Bed: Child Bearing in America 1750-1950.など英語圏の先行研究を参照して同時代のアメリカの状況と比較しながら検討した。結果は論文にまとめ、『医学史研究』に投稿する。

This year, the following three points are included: investigation and research, and achievements. The first is a survey of the state of low-income production and access to medical facilities in Tokyo City in the 1920s and 1930s."Low-income production and access to medical facilities in Tokyo City in the 1920s and 1930s." This is the first time that the Japanese government has issued a report to the Japanese government on how to use the Japanese government's social survey system. Second, the production of assistive medical facilities in the 1920-40's provided a thorough review of the medical conditions, the orientation of pregnant women and newborns, the trends of immature child medical care, the analysis of obstetrics, pediatrics, and books. The results of this study are: 'Child delivery in medical institutions and lifesaving intervention for premature infants before and during World War 2 in Japan,' Leavitt (1986) Brought to Bed: Child Bearing in America 1750-1950. Results Papers were submitted for "medical history research."
