项目摘要

本年度は、地方紙の政治報道の形成要因と有権者の政治意識との関連性について、定量分析、定性分析の両側面から研究を行った。以下、箇条書きの形式で主な研究実施状況を説明する。なお、下記内容以外も含め、データ分析だけでなく、地方紙関係者への聞き取り調査や資料収集を行った。採用1年度目で得られた成果も含めて、日本の地方紙の政治報道に関する博士論文を執筆中であり、2020年度中に提出する見込みである。（1）近年の日本の新聞のイデオロギー的論調に関して、新聞社のウェブサイト経由で独自にスクレイピングしたテキストデータに機械学習モデルを適用した、採用者を筆頭著者とする共著論文が、政治コミュニケーション分野における代表的な国際学術誌への掲載が決定した。（2）2019年7月～8月にかけて、独自のインターネット世論調査やウェブ上のコンジョイント実験などを実施した。各データを用いた統計分析も行い、地方紙読者の政治意識やメディア認識、投票先選択に関する新たな知見を得ることができた。（3）1970年以降の50年間の憲法記念日における、全国紙と地方紙（計50紙）の社説テキストをマイクロフィルム等を利用して収集し、各新聞の左右イデオロギーや共同通信配信資料との類似性などに関して時系列的な分析と背景要因の考察を行った。分析結果は国内学会や研究会で報告し、国内学術誌に投稿した論文が修正再審査の決定を受けている。（4）市郡ごとの政党別、候補者別の投票結果と新聞普及率に関する独自のデータセットの構築を完了した。（3）で作成した各新聞の左右イデオロギー値ともマージして統計分析を行い、有権者の購読新聞と政治意識の関係を考察した。（5）地元政治家を地方紙がどのように報じるかに関して、網羅的に研究を行った。政治家のスキャンダルに対する新聞報道に関する分析結果については、国内学会で報告を行った。
