项目摘要

2020年度前半は、ひきつづき英国のバーミンガム大学において在外研究を実施した。1439年のフィレンツェ公会議における東西教会合同宣言が、キプロスにおける宗教的状況にいかなる影響を与えたのかという問題を検討するために、先行研究の整理を進めた。その一環として、中近世のキプロス正教会を扱ったCh.キリアクによるモノグラフについて、英語で書評を執筆し、それは査読つき学術雑誌『Diogenes』第9号に掲載された。2020年8月末から9月にかけては、キプロスに滞在し、キプロス・アメリカ考古学研究所とキプロス研究所にて、文献の収集をおこなった。滞在中には、キプロス研究所のN.クレアス氏と面会し、キプロスの教会史の研究状況についての議論をおこなった。帰国後は、在外研究中に入手した史資料をもとに、カトリックに改宗したギリシア人ドミニコ会士アンドレアス・クリュソベルゲスの活動と、バーゼル公会議における彼の説教について分析した。彼は、フィレンツェ公会議ののち、東西教会合同宣言を個別地域で実現するべく、教皇によってキプロスに派遣されたことで知られる人物である。新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大に伴う採用中断期間（2020年10月から2021年3月まで）を経たのち、この成果については、2021年5月に開催された第71回日本西洋史学会大会において、口頭発表をおこなった。質疑応答の内容をふまえ、キプロス、さらには東地中海世界におけるカトリック教会とギリシア正教会の併存の歴史のなかに、クリュソベルゲスの活動はいかに位置づけられ、それはどのような意味をもつのかについて、さらに考察を進め、論文としてまとめたのち査読つき学術雑誌に投稿する予定である。
