コロナ禍における行動制限が緩和されつつも、国内外での状況ではまだ研究と教育活動を抑制せざるを得ない状況も継続しており、研究計画通りに遂行することが難しかった。その中で、本研究課題に関係して海外の大学から外国人客員研究員として３名を受け入れ、研究的助言や論文執筆支援を行った。１人はオスロ大学（ノルウェー）研究者で「アジアにおける海獣と環境思想」というテーマでアジアと欧米の環境思想を比較考察的に研究しており、環境思想史的助言を行うとともに、執筆中の論文についてもコメントした。グダニスク大学（ポーランド）からは環境人文学（海中文化）と演劇研究で２人の研究者を受け入れ、それぞれの研究テーマに助言をするとともに、今後の共同研究の計画について話し合った。また、昨年度グダニスク大学より受け入れた研究者1人が2023年度の日本財団から「国際交流基金日本研究フェローシップ」に採用されたと報告があった（2023年4月26日）。今後、研究協力者として引き続き研究を支援する予定である。次年度の研究計画としてこれまでの研究を総括中である。主に、研究期間で行った調査のデータの解題を改めて行い、今後の研究展開を含めた課題を次のように整理した。１）欧米モダニズム研究における海環境思想の相関、２）大衆メディア（ビジネスカード・海運会社広告、その他海関連のサブジャンル）と同時代文学との関連性、３）航海誌、航海記録から抽出される海事状況と詳細。上記の状況により論文公刊までには至っておらず、2023年度も研究補助期間延長申請を行うことになったが。引き続きこれまでの実績を総括し、論文公刊につなげるべく研究を計画している。
