项目摘要

本研究は、消滅の危機に瀕し研究資料の蓄積も少ないヌートカ語（Nuuchahnulth;ワカシュ語族；カナダ、ブリティッシュ・コロンビア州）のアハウザット方言を対象として、平成27年度～29年度基盤研究（C）「ヌートカ語アハウザット方言の統合テキストデータベースの構築」の成果であるテキストデータベースを基盤に、さらなる未発表言語資料を処理・分析し、アハウザット方言の言語総合データベースを構築拡充させることを目的とする。ヌートカ語は、他の北米大陸の先住民と同じく、急速に進む白人社会への同化の流れに置かれ、消滅の危機に瀕する。本データベースでは、研究の成果が言語構造、伝統社会・生活、地域の歴史などに関する研究、および現地コミュニティーでの伝統文化と文化の再活性化に大きく貢献できるよう、データの内容と構造の両面において幅広いニーズを想定した形に作り込んでいる。内容面では、伝説、昔話、歴史的な出来事についての語り、伝統社会・文化・技術・生活様式・しきたりについての解説などを幅広く含む。構造面では、文法分析を加えた自然談話データを、音声データ・語彙集とリンクさせ、従来の文法研究や人類学的研究のみならず、近年急速に重要性を増している自然談話の構造に関する研究や言語再活性化のための教材作成など、幅広い範囲の研究・社会活動に活用できる基礎資料として整える。昨年度に引き続き今年度も、コロナ禍によりカナダのバンクーバー島などにおける現地調査がかなわず、新たなテキスト・音声データの収集や現地話者による文法や文化的情報の聞き取り調査・確認を進めることはできなかったが、既存のデータに基づいたデータベースの拡充を行った。
