项目摘要

本研究は、筑後国を代表する山岳霊場である高良玉垂宮（高良山）について、山の内外に分かれて伝わる仏教美術作品を調査し、神仏が習合していたかつての山の様相を復元的に考察しようとするものである。先行して進める、研究活動スタート支援「高良玉垂宮の仏教美術に関する基礎的研究－山内安置場所の復元と神仏分離過程の整理－」（令和３～５年度）と一体の研究として計画しており、スタート支援では山麓寺院に伝わる仏教美術の悉皆調査を中心に進め、本研究では山内にも目を向けることとしている。今年度は、山内の状況を把握するために、現地踏査をおこなった。高良山内の平面構造分析の実績をもつ考古学の専門家に協力を求め、主要な谷筋を歩いた。現在の高良山内には寺院・坊が現存しておらず、これらに関わる発掘調査もおこなわれていない。かつての建物配置を知るためには、平場の残存状況や石積みの存在、表採考古遺物が重要で、これを近世の絵地図や地誌類とつきあわせて寺院や坊の分布状況を復元考察する研究がおこなわれている。踏査では、これらの考古学的な成果に基づきながら現地を歩き、山麓寺院調査で確認された仏像・仏画の元の安置場所である寺院・坊について、実地（推定地も含む）を辿り、それぞれの位置関係や規模を把握した。また、山内の歴代座主の墓や、近世に遡る燈籠など、石造物の存在を確認した。これらの成果の一部は、スタート支援の成果公表としておこなった九歴講座「高良山の仏教美術－山の内外で守られた仏像群－」と、令和四年度九州歴史資料館研究論集「福聚寺観音堂の諸仏について－高良山ゆかりの作品群を中心に－」に反映した。

A part of the results of this seminar is reflected in the seminar "Takayama's teaching art-inside and outside the mountain" and the fourth year of Kyushu History Database Research Collection "Fukujuji Temple's music hall's various works-Takayama's works center-".
