本研究の目的は、自然言語における様々な種類の最小化詞(minimizer)の意味・機能を統語論、意味論、語用論の観点から考察し、最小化詞の多様性の本質を理論的・実証的に明らかにすることである。具体的には、「感覚・感情と極性の関係」、「（非）字義性と極性の関係」、「排他性と低スケール性の関係」に焦点を当て、最小化詞の多様性を実証的・理論的に解明する。１年目は、データ、理論の両面から以下の研究を行った。[1] モーラに基づく最小化詞「XY…のXの字」の非字義的用法についてコーパスデータを用いて考察し、ワークショップで発表した。[2] 否定極性項目として振舞う日本語の「かけら」の期待的・感情表出的特性について考察し、現時点で得られた研究成果をアメリカ言語学会のproceedings論文としてまとめた。またUniversity of Washington Semantics Roundtableや University of Edinburgh Meaning and Grammar Seminarで進行中の研究内容について発表した。[3] 日本語の「かすかに」や英語のfaintly等の感覚を基盤にした最小詞の意味・使用について考察し、Oxford大学で開催された言語学ワークショップで発表した。[4] 低スケール性を伴った対比の「は」の意味・機能について論文をまとめ、Empirical Issues in Syntax and Semanticsに掲載した。[5] 比較文の談話レベルの役割についての論文を執筆し、国際誌(Language and Linguistics)に掲載した。

The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning and function of minimizers in natural speech, and to explore the theoretical and practical aspects of the diversity nature of minimizers. Specific,"Sensation, emotion and polarity relationship,""(non) semantic and polarity relationship,""exclusivity and low-polarity relationship," focus on, minimize word diversity, implement, theoretical explanation. 1 year of research on the following topics: [1]The word "XY" is used to minimize the basic meaning of the word "XY".
