多文化共生社会の達成に向けて、地域日本語教室も、言語教育から社会教育への転換が求められている。本研究では、新たな理念のもとで活躍できる日本語支援人材の育成を目指し、計画、実践、観察、振り返りのサイクルでアクションリサーチを行うための実践コミュニティ構築を試み、地域の変容に必要な要素を明らかにすることを目指す。具体的には、従来型の日本語教室の多い愛媛県を対象とし、新旧のボランティアがともに行動・意識変容できる要素は何か、理念・目標を学ぶ場として交流会・養成講座を、実践や省察の場として日本語教室を開設し、同じ課題に悩む地域に有効なモデルを示すことを目標とする。2022年度は、愛媛県の新旧の日本語ボランティアと広くつながり、地域の実態を把握することを目標とした。6月～8月に愛媛県内の22の日本語ボランティア団体等の人材養成・研修の現状把握のためアンケート調査を実施した。また、5月と3月に県内の3ボランティア団体、10月に県外の先進的地域（徳島県）へ訪問調査を行った。それと並行して、具体的な実践コミュニティの施行として、以下の4つの事業を行った。a)メールリストを作り日本語教育や多文化共生に関する情報配信、b)短期（半日）研修会3会（7月・11月・1月に各1回）、c)オンライン情報交換会9回（月１回、１時間）：、d)日本語教室の試行的設置（活動回数30回）なお、2022年度の研究成果は「日本語教育学会2022年度支部活動【四国支部】、新時代の日韓共同課題フォーラム：日韓の外国人政策と多文化社会』第1回等、7件の報告・発表を行った。
