项目摘要

本研究は設立から数年以内に海外展開するボーングローバル企業(以下、BGＦ)の戦略行動の再考を通じて、グローバルな中堅・中小・ベンチャー企業の戦略行動を説明するための、統合理論モデルを構築することを意図している。そのため、本年度は、事例研究をベースにBGFと段階的に海外進出のレベルを上げていく伝統型国際企業との戦略を、とくに市場戦略や資源展開などの点から比較を行った。その結果、BGFと伝統型企業では、企業規模に違いはあるが、ニッチ市場で事業を展開しているため、戦略特性についてはかなり類似性が高かった。とくに市場戦略では類似性が高い。顧客の対応では、まさに筋の良い顧客を持っていることである。市場規模で顧客を選択するのではなく、自社の技術力を向上させ、また、他の市場に波及効果の高い顧客を選択している。もちろん伝統型企業の方が、国内でまずは競争優位性を構築してから、海外に出ることになるため、技術力なども含めた資源力の厚みが違うので、事業の展開力もある。つまり、コアな技術力をより深掘りすることで、多様な分野に多角化している。たとえば、伝統型企業の(株)スギノマシンは、ウォータージェット技術をその成長過程で、自動車、電機、鉱業、食品、医療等、さまざまな分野へ応用することで事業ドメインを広げている。それに対してBGFは、伝統型企業のように技術を深めるというよりは、既存の技術を生かせる多様な市場を見つけだして成長している。たとえば、分煙機メーカーの企業である(株)トルネックスは、分煙機のコア技術である気流制御の技術をベースにして、海外では公共機関のバスや住宅事業分野の換気装置にその技術力を応用していた。その意味でマーケティング力が高いとする、既存の欧米企業をベースとしたボーン企業研究の発見とも共通しているところがある
