本研究の目的は，（1）共感疲労予防のためのバーチャルリアリティ（Virtual Reality：VR）を用いた自己内対話システムを作成すること，（2）がん医療に携わる看護師に対して自己内対話システムを用いた介入を実施し，その効果測定を行うこと，の2点である。ここで，「VRを用いた自己内対話」とは，VRの世界で自分の身体と他者の身体を交互に入れ替え，自己内対話を促進させる方法のことを指し，本研究では，「他者」としてカウンセラーのアバターを使用する。本研究を通して，がん医療領域における看護師の共感疲労に関する根拠に基づいた知見および有効な介入システムの提言を目指す。令和4年度は，上記（1）の研究パート（自己内対話のためのVR環境作成）を進めた。具体的には，まず，VR環境作成に必要な機器やソフト（赤外線3Dスキャナ，3D構築・モデリング・アニメーション作成用ソフト，VRヘッドセット周辺機器等）を揃え，その後，自己内対話に使用する面接室をVR上に構築した。さらに，実験参加者が自己内対話をより自然なかたちで進められるよう，参加者のアバターの声は本人の声で再生され，カウンセラーのアバターの声は本人とは別の声で変換再生されるようプログラミングを行い，完成させた。また，上記と同時並行で，自己内対話を構造化するための教示の提示方法について検討した。構造化は，（1）共感疲労の概念説明および個人の中でリスクとなり得る状況および認知的反応の特定，（2）特定された認知的反応を題材とした自己内対話，という観点から行うこととした。
