1年目（2022年度）の研究項目は、「精神障害者家族へのインタビュー」および「保健師へのインタビュー」であったが、新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響からインタビューを実施することができなかった。遠隔（リモート）でのインタビューを検討したが、離島という地理的性質上および資源不足という側面のために通信環境の整っている精神障害者家族がおらず、実施には至らなかった。また、保健師についても新型コロナウイルス感染症への対応等のために、調査協力を取り交わすことができなかった。そのため、インタビューというかたちではなく、聞き取り調査として、保健師から市民に公開できる範囲での情報提供を複数回、受けている。その内容は、「現地の精神科病院と総合病院の閉院を背景に、入院患者の多くが島外へ転院したという状況が生まれており、一部メディアでも報じられている」というものである。精神障害者家族からみると、患者の入院する病院が離れてしまうことにより、世話のために物理的・時間的・身体的・経済的な負担がより一層強まっているものと推察できる。そのような状況下では、精神障害者家族は、これまでよりも親亡き後の不安を抱えることになる。今後はフィールド調査をベースとしつつ、精神障害者家族に生じている具体的な心理的負担の内容について明らかにしていくことが重要である。そして、保健師の語りを加え、親亡き後の準備に向けた支援技術に関する示唆を得ることを目指す。その結果、精神保健医療体制および地域共生社会の進展に寄与すると考える。
