项目摘要

ヒトにおいて病気やケガなどで障害をもった場合，適切な治療とリハビリテーションをおこなうことで回復および悪化防止につながる．近年動物でもこのようなリハビリテーションの重要性が議論されてきている．これまでのところ，イヌやネコなどの伴侶動物では欧米を中心にリハビリテーションの方法が確立されつつある．一方動物園などで飼育されている大型の野生動物などについては，方針・方法の確立には至っていない．しかし希少動物や繁殖可能な年齢の動物が障害をもった場合，地球規模の保全や飼育下での個体管理棟に影響を及ぼす可能性がある．また直接的なハンドリングが難しい動物においては，ケアをする側の人間にリスクも伴う．そのため，早急に飼育下野生動物の安全ｎかつ効率的なリハビリテーション法を模索していく必要がある．本年度は，これまでのまとめをするとともに，名古屋市東山動植物園で髄膜炎を発症し右半身麻痺を呈したチンパンジーが出てきてしまい，その観察および分析をおこなった．前年度に観察をおこなった左前腕を切断したチンパンジーと同様に，飼育スタッフによる群れ復帰が試みられ，結果片腕のチンパンジーと同じように，群れメンバーの行動に大きな変化はなかった．一方片腕のチンパンジーは移動と社会行動に費やす時間がが減少している傾向がみられたが，右半身麻痺のチンパンジーには変化がなかった．費やす時間に変化はなかったが，一定の距離を移動するのに時間がかかることも考えられ，その点は現在も分析中である．このことから，他個体から受ける不利益はほとんどないが，障害をもった個体に関しては，障害の程度やそのほかの要因で影響を受ける行動が異なることが示唆された．最終年度であるこの年は，論文執筆を重点的におこない，年度をまたいでしまったが2016年4月15日に論文がAcceptされた．年度内に博士号取得には至らなかったが，博士論文の執筆と準備もおこなった．
