本研究は、日本における表現主義受容を多角的に把握するために、三つの視角から考察を進めた。第一は、演劇・戯曲の領域における表現主義受容を跡づけることであった。ベルリンに留学し表現主義を学んだ土方與志・小山内薫・村山知義らは、その後の新劇運動を主導し、日本における表現主義運動を牽引する役割を担った。日本の近代劇形成において決定的な役割を果たしたこの表現主義演劇の受容過程について、これまではあまり論究されなかったが、本研究は先ずその欠陥を補うことを目的とした。第二の視角は、日本の文学者たちが表現主義を受容する際に、日本古来の既成観念をもって対処し、インターナショナルな思想的方向性を示さなかった、この受容の日本的変容のあり方を究明するとともに、演劇の観点から別な途の可能性を跡づけた。第三の視角は、国家権力の文化・思想統制の下における表現主義受容の余儀なくされた変容、「歪み」に注目した点である。このような視座のもと、本研究はまず、ドイツ表現主義と関係のある諸雑誌を調査し、雑誌を中心とした論争によって表現主義運動がいかに新しい地平を切り開いたかを考察した。国立国会図書館や早稲田大学演劇博物館および国文学研究資料館などに所蔵されている資料や、共立女子大学図書館の所蔵する築地小劇場の検閲済上演生台本などを精査した。本研究の果たした意義として, 第一に、従来のドイツ表現主義研究が、絵画・写真・映画・建築など視覚文化における受容研究がその大部分であったのに対し、言語表現の領域に焦点を当てることによって表現主義受容の全体像を示した点である。第二に、表現主義受容者たちが、インターナショナルの立場から日本社会を批判するとともに、従来の日本文壇の旧態たる政治意識・社会観・文学観の変革を呼びかけた点に注目し、従来の一国的な文学史、あるいはそれを前提とした比較文学史の方法を乗り越える足掛りを示した点である。第三に、表現主義受容期(主に1920年代)の日本における歴史的・社会的状況、また言説のイデオロギー的配置をも考察し、社会的存在としての文学のあり方に照明を当て、文学史叙述の新局面を切り拓く可能性を示した点にある。

This study is based on a multi-angle understanding of Japanese expressionism. The first stage of the drama, the field of expressionism The Expressionist Movement in Japan is a leading force in the new drama movement in Japan. This paper aims to explore the influence of expressionism on the formation of Japanese modern drama. The second perspective is that when Japanese writers accept expressionism, Japanese ancient ideas are reflected in the direction of Japanese ideas, and Japanese ideas are reflected in the direction of Japanese ideas. The third perspective is that under the control of the state power, culture and ideology, expressionism is accepted by the rest of the instrument, and "deviation" is focused on the point. This study investigates the relationship between expressionism and ideology, and explores the relationship between expressionism and ideology. The National Diet Library, the Waseda University Theatre Museum, the National Literature Research Library, and the Tsukiji Small Theater, owned by the Kyoritsu Women's University Library, were carefully examined. The results of this study are as follows: first, expressionism research, painting, photography, architecture, visual culture, reception research, most of which focus on the field of speech expression. Second, expressionism is accepted by the Japanese society and criticized by the Japanese literary world. Third, the reception period of expressionism (mainly in the 1920s) and the social situation of Japanese history, the allocation of speech and literature, the existence of society, the illumination of literature, the possibility of developing a new situation in literary history, etc.
