PROJECT SUMMARY / ABSTRACT This application is a request for a diversity supplement for Mr. Ayodeji Akere. The supplement aims to provide mentorship, training, and advance research experience for a Baccalaureate student via the recently funded Integration of Hypertension Management in HIV Care in Nigeria: A Task Strengthening Strategy grant (#HL147811). Within the scope of Dr. Ogedegbe’s R01 (1R01HL147811-01A1), Mr. Akere’s post-baccalaureate research plan will be to assist with various technical aspects for the parent study of the parent grant. Mr. Akere will focus on assessing hypertension management processes within the study sites or the primary healthcare centers (PHCs) in Lagos by conducting a rapid ethnographic assessment of each site – a key component for the practice facilitation strategy of the parent study. Through this project, Mr. Akere will receive exposure to the research process, engage in research training and mentorship, and receive assistance with career development opportunities to strengthen his application to medical school.
