英文摘要
The goal of this project is to use Jackson Heart Study (JHS) data, the largest cohort study of African Americans to date, in order to determine if and how certain behavioral risk factors for chronic illnesses (tobacco use, physical activity, body mass index) relate to Internet and Mobile Technology (IMT) use among African-Americans. Aim 1 is to determine the extent to which African-Americans with certain risk factors for chronic illnesses use IMT. Aim 2 is to to understand how African Americans with certain risk factors for chronic disease use IMT. For inclusion in the study, participants will be only those who have available data from Exam 3 and completed the survey "Digital Connectedness Survey" during Annual Follow Up. The outcome in the proposed research is Internet and Mobile Technology Use. The exposures are 3 risk factors related to chronic disease: physical activity, body mass index, and tobacco use. Descriptive statistics will be used to examine age, gender, and education. Multivariate logistic regression analyses will be used to explore the relationship between chronic disease risk factors and IMT use while controlling for relevant covariates.
