UK Ageing Research Networks Partnership with the USA and Canada

The challenge of population ageing is a growing concern. Currently, nearly 11 million people are aged 65 and older in the UK. Within the next 20 years, it is anticipated that this number would rise by more than 40%. Globally, the population aged 65 and over is growing faster than all other age groups. This increase will impose a substantial burden on the UK and global economies. In this application we propose forming a consortium of leading ageing research organisations and investigators from the UK, the USA and Canada to address this timely issue. We aim to integrate the scientific insight on ageing to initiate development of biological, pharmaceutical/nutraceutical, behavioural, lifestyle, clinical and societal interventions to promote healthy ageing and improve lifespan.
