My proposed research project analyses the effect of studying abroad on learners perceptionand production of specific sounds in a foreign language (L2). It will be hypothesised that input type(instructed vs. naturalistic) is a determinant factor in the acquisition of L2 segmental categories andthat it is by no means, therefore, only age of learning that constrains L2 phonological acquisition.
