英文摘要
This project will develop integrated "Bio-chip" sensors, using semiconductor processes, combined with chemical and biochemical surface modification. Devices will be based on a graphene platform and combined with micro-fluidics to enable detection of biomarkers at ultra-low concentrations. The sensor will be capable of detecting biomarkers in blood, urine or even breath. The biosensor consists of a receptor molecule or entity (antibody, aptamer etc.) attached to the graphene surface, which is capable of interacting selectively with a specific target biomarker. This binding event between the charged biomarker and the bioreceptor produces a change in the charge density at the graphene nanochannel surface, that can be detected as a change in the electrical behaviour of the sensor device (essentially, a depletion of the nanochannel resulting in a change in the channel resistance). The Research Engineer will look to develop a graphene based "electronic nose" sensor. Details of the device are commercially restricted at this stage. The research will be undertaken at the Centre for Nanohealth (CNH) at Swansea University.
