Investigating the relationship between head injury and aggression in minors over time

Aggression can have negative implications not only to the self but to others and society. In England andWales and estimated 1.3 million violent crimes where reported. It is therefore important to identify whatmay cause aggression including those conditions where aggression is a main characteristic (in this caseconduct disorder). In the past, traumatic brain injury (TBI) has been repeatedly investigated and hassuggested that there is a relationship with TBI and post-aggression. But what about a less severe headrelated injury?This project aims to investigate if there is a relationship between head injuries (excluding TBI) andaggressive behaviours seen in childhood and adolescents. It will do so by using longitudinal data alreadyacquired from the Millennium Cohort Study (MCS) - a birth cohort study of 19,000 individuals bornbetween 2000 and 2002. It aims to see if there is a relationship between head injury and aggressivebehaviours in males and females during childhood and adolescents.If there are different pathways in clinically relevant aggressive behaviours in these individuals and ifthere are individual and familial risk factors for trajectories in aggressive behaviour in adolescents.
